John has also competed and lived in Thailand, where he honed in his Muay Thai skills that he brings to each class. Muay Thai is a striking art that utilizes the fists, elbows, knees, and feet. There is also an element of grappling in Muay Thai referred to as the clinch. Different from the grappling techniques used in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, clinch maneuvers are used to set up knee and elbow strikes or take-downs. These techniques can be used during competition and in real world self-defense situations.
Fight Ready students learn the basics of Muay Thai as well as advanced combinations. The basics of Muay Thai include Stance, Footwork, Punches, Kicks, Knees and Elbows. Training also includes heavy bag and pad work, as well as clinch work. Student’s progress at their own pace.
