Dan Moret
Self-Defense Instructor, Pro MMA
Self defense instructor and active professional MMA fighter. Teaches skills that hold up outside the gym.
About Dan
Dan Moret leads self defense instruction at Fight Ready while competing as a professional MMA fighter. Self defense is one of the most misunderstood subjects in martial arts, and Dan teaches a version that works: real techniques against real attackers, built around what happens outside a sport context.
His classes attract members who want practical self defense rather than impressive-looking moves. Many students come to Dan after disappointing experiences with other self defense programs that teach techniques that fall apart under resistance.
What Dan Teaches
Real-World Self Defense
Self defense for actual scenarios: confrontations, grabs, multiple attackers, weapon awareness. Built on techniques that have been pressure tested.
Awareness and De-escalation
Most self defense situations can be avoided through awareness and managed through de-escalation. Dan teaches the verbal and behavioral skills alongside the physical.
Self Defense for Women
Dan runs dedicated self defense sessions for women that address the specific patterns women face. Useful for women members and for women who do not otherwise train martial arts.
Dan's Coaching Philosophy
Dan's philosophy is that self defense is layered. Awareness avoids the situation. De-escalation handles the situation that cannot be avoided. Physical technique is the last layer when everything else has failed. Most self defense programs only teach the physical layer, which is backwards.
He believes that real self defense skill is built through real training. Watching videos does not work. One-day workshops do not work. Consistent training with a coach who knows what works builds the skill that holds up under stress.

From the very first class, the coaches made it fun, energetic, and super welcoming. My children come out of every session sweaty, smiling, and more confident than ever. They’ve built real skills, better focus, and tons of discipline, all while having a blast. The atmosphere is positive and family-friendly, with instructors who clearly care about the kids’ growth both on and off the mat.
If you’re looking for kickboxing that actually engages your children and delivers results, this is the place. Highly recommend!

Coach Bobby is the best you can get. My girls love going to his classes—they actually cheer when I tell them it’s kickboxing day! They’re little, but Coach Bobby makes it fun while still helping them learn and build skills. I highly recommend his classes.

Dan's Training Tips
Trust Your Gut
If a person or situation feels wrong, leave. Trust gut feelings before you rationalize them away.
Practice Saying No
The ability to say no firmly is one of the most underused self defense tools. Practice using your voice.
Train Under Stress
Calm technique fails under stress. Training must include drills that elevate heart rate and decision-making pressure.
