Martial Arts For Total Beginners
No experience needed. No pressure. Built for adults stepping on the mat for the first time.
Day One Welcome
Walking into a martial arts gym for the first time is intimidating. We get it. Most of our members felt exactly the same way before their first class. The good news is that the moment you step on the mat, the fear disappears.
Fight Ready was built for beginners as much as for fighters. Our fundamentals classes assume zero experience. Our coaches teach the basics step by step. Our community welcomes new members the same way we welcomed our most senior students years ago.
What 'Beginner' Actually Means At Fight Ready
A beginner at Fight Ready is anyone who has not yet trained at our gym, regardless of background. You might be a 30-year-old who has never thrown a punch. You might be a 50-year-old who used to wrestle in high school. You might be a 25-year-old who watches UFC and finally decided to try it. All of you are beginners here, and all of you start with the same fundamentals.
Beginner is not an insult. It is the most important phase of any martial arts journey. The students who master the fundamentals become the best long-term practitioners. The students who rush past the basics struggle for years to fix the gaps.
Your First Month
Week One: Show Up
The hardest class is the first one. The second hardest is the second one. By class three, you start to feel the rhythm. Week one is just about showing up, getting through the soreness, and building the habit.
Week Two: Learn the Basics
By week two, you will know how the gym works. Where to put your gear. How to wrap your hands. How to bow to your partner. The basics of class structure. The coach will start teaching real technique.
Week Three: Find Your Pace
Most beginners feel slightly more competent by week three. The soreness fades. The technique starts to make sense. You find training partners you click with.
Week Four: Build The Habit
By the end of the first month, training feels like part of your week. The decision to go to the gym requires less willpower than it did on day one. You are still a beginner, but you are a beginner who is part of the team.

Common Beginner Concerns
I am out of shape
Almost every beginner says this. The fitness builds with training. Most beginners are dramatically fitter after 90 days.
I am too old
Adults start martial arts in their 30s, 40s, 50s, and beyond every day. Age is a real factor but not a barrier.
I do not want to get hurt
Injury rates at quality gyms are lower than recreational basketball or running. Beginners spend their first weeks without contact.
I do not want to fight
You never have to. Sparring is optional. Competition is doubly optional. Many members train for years without ever sparring.
I will be the worst one there
Every black belt was once the worst person on the mat. Every member of our gym remembers being new. Nobody judges beginners. Everybody helps them.
Our Reviews

From the very first class, the coaches made it fun, energetic, and super welcoming. My children come out of every session sweaty, smiling, and more confident than ever. They’ve built real skills, better focus, and tons of discipline, all while having a blast. The atmosphere is positive and family-friendly, with instructors who clearly care about the kids’ growth both on and off the mat.
If you’re looking for kickboxing that actually engages your children and delivers results, this is the place. Highly recommend!

Coach Bobby is the best you can get. My girls love going to his classes—they actually cheer when I tell them it’s kickboxing day! They’re little, but Coach Bobby makes it fun while still helping them learn and build skills. I highly recommend his classes.
